The evolution Diva Espresso had its
beginnings by two partners who brought her to life in January of 1992
ultimately thriving in the neighborhoods of Greenwood and West
Seattle. Although Diva had her growing pains, original founding owner
Mele Olsen and managing partner Greg Hamper retained her essence and
nurtured her excellence through the addition of new Diva locations at
Stoneway, Lake City, The Highlands, and two Downtown locations
bringing the total number of Diva owned entities to seven. In
addition, Diva’s first franchise location was added to the Diva Family
at the SeaTac Airport in 2004, bringing the total number of Diva
locations to eight.
In 2001, Diva’s owners came to a timely realization that noteworthy
coffee only originates with decent, evenhanded, fair and equitable
relationships between grower, broker, roaster, and consumer. It was,
and continues to be Diva’s belief that the inestimable effect human
dignity has on anything produced through heart and sweat and spirit is
essential to the quality and success of that product. By being
involved in the process from inception to resolution, it is Diva’s
belief that not only was the end product superb, but incomparable and
deeply satisfying, but that all was right in the world...every step of
the way.
This led to the founding of Highlands Coffee Company, exclusive custom
roaster of Diva Espresso Fine Coffees, operating in North Seattle and
offering high end product infused with the care, knowledge, art and
vision of all who had a hand in bringing to you. In early 2004
Highlands Coffee Company moved its roasting from store level to a much
larger space, adding a roaster almost twice the capacity of their
first roaster. Plans are in the works for an open-to-the-public
cupping room and training space.
